Two new theatre programmes + commentary added to the Love on the Dole Programmes Jealously Preserved (1935-2010) article: one is from The People’s Palace (Mile End Rd, London, E.1, 1938), the other is from The Lowry, Salford (2004). Both are of considerable interest in their right (the first because of the venue and elaborate programme, the second because it was a new stage adaptation of the novel), and I will in due course write separate articles about each.
